Reverend Napoleon Gillespie Obituary

Rev. Napoleon Gillespie was born June 29, 1949 in Lagrange, AR to Oshian and Rosie Gillespie. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at the Mt. Moriah M.B Church under the leadership of Rev. E.R Gaines. He answered God's call and transitioned on December 31, 2021.

Napoleon accepted his calling to preach at the age of 31 and would be blessed to Pastor two churches Mt. Zion M.B. Church for 39 years and St. Luke M.B. Church for 26 yrs he served and held several leadership roles throughout his many years of preaching ; President of Lee County Ministerial Alliance , President of Greater PLM & D District Congress, Chairman of Community Action Committee . He was employed for the Lee County Cooperative Clinic in various capacities for over thirty years. Napoleon was a dedicated hard worker who worked landscaping for Lee County Courthouse until his health wouldn't allow him to do so any longer. He was committed to helping others and faithful to his calling as a Pastor.

Napoleon was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Lee Gillespie, and wife; Irene Gardner. He was married to Mardene Wallace they remained lifelong friends to their union are four children Ladonna Morris (Lee)Marianna, AR, Corey Gillespie (Tonya) Maumelle, AR, Erica Gillespie  Memphis, TN, and Nevia Gillespie of Marion, AR he has ten sisters Rosetta Gillespie; Chicago, IL, Minnie Gillespie; Springfield,IL, Natta Gillespie; New Orleans, LA, Irene Gillespie, Alicestine Dedmond, Evelyn Allen (William), Ira J Gillespie, Winnie Gillespie, Quester Quarles (Charlie) all of Little Rock, AR and Julia Gillespie of Moro, AR :three brothers Oshian Gillespie Jr (Shirley), Rev Claborne Gillespie (Zenobia) Little Rock, AR and Ollie Gillespie; Omaha, NE and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and family who loved him dearly and will cherish his memories. 

Funeral services for our beloved dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, servant, Rev. Napoleon Gillespie will be Saturday January 8, 2022 @ 11:00 a.m. at Mt Calvary MB Church 296 Moton St Marianna, AR services are entrusted to Gillespie Brothers Funeral Home 2420 S Arch Little Rock, AR  (501) 376-7892
